Bishops in Manicaland Unite for Interface Meeting and Ordination Celebrations
In a historic gathering, eighteen bishops from various churches in Manicaland, Zimbabwe, came together for the African Christian Council International (ACCI) interface meeting and ordination celebrations on November 17, 2024.
The event, organized by Chairman Bishop Gwanzura, took place at Mavambo Asingagumiz Asingaonekwe Pentecostal Church in Nyakunu Village under Chief Zimunya.
The meeting was attended by a diverse group of bishops, with most not affiliated to any organization. The Chief Registrar addressed the gathering, explaining the benefits of membership and how to join. The presentation was well-received, with many bishops expressing appreciation and promising to come on board.
Bishop Gwanzura emphasized the importance of churches having proper structures and venturing into meaningful projects that benefit the community. He highlighted the advantages of affiliating with the African Council of Christian Churches and Communities (ACCI), citing their collaboration with the government and local community leaders.
The event also celebrated the ordination of Bishop Alice Chipote, who was ordained at the Chegutu function. The celebrations were attended by local leaders, including Chief Zimunya’s representative, Village Head Nyakunu, and Councilor for ward 27.
In a show of support, the local Councillor pledged seven bags of cement towards the construction of a church building. This gesture underscores the importance of community engagement and partnership.
The interface meeting marked a significant milestone in promoting unity and cooperation among bishops in Manicaland. As ACCI, the organization aims to replicate this model in each province to increase membership and foster greater collaboration.
African Christian Council International(ACCI) is the largest Indigenous Christian board in Africa with equal representation across the continent. The Grand President, Professor Archbishop Johannes Ndanga spearheaded the launch of Zimbabwe Chapter some time last year in Kadoma where the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Emerson Mnangagwa officiated the occasion.
