The country has scooped prestigious awards at the ongoing International Tourism Bourse (ITB) Berlin Germany.

Zimbabwe emerged the 2023 PATWA winner for the Destination of the Year, Natural Beauty. The Tourism Minister Mangaliso Ndhlovu is the Tourism Minister of the Year for Southern Africa while Zimbabwe Tourism Authority(ZTA) Chief Executive Winnie Muchanyuka scooped the PATWA Destination Manager of the Year 2023 at the ITB Berlin in Germany.

Spotlight Global News caught up with ZTA’s Spokesperson, Godfrey Koti who who shared the developments from Germany.

“Zimbabwe is the 2023 PATWA winner for the Destination of the Year, Natural Beauty. Minister of Environment Climate Tourism and Hospitality Industry has been named Tourism Minister of the year for Southern Africa.

ZTA CE Ms Winnie Muchanyuka has been named the PATWA Destination Manager of the Year 2023 at the ITB Berlin in Germany.”

Rainbow Tourism Group, Cresta Hospitality, Wild Horizons, Victoria Falls Hotel, Zimbabwe Parks Management and Wildlife Authority and the Airports Company of Zimbabwe are some of the players that attended the ITB Berlin.

The ITB is the world’s largest travel show and remains the leading global meeting place attracting the participation of more than 185 countries, 900 qualified top buyers, 10 000 exhibitors, 23 000 convention visitors and more than 165 000 private and public visitors which makes it a significant platform for Zimbabwe to advance its presence.

The platform is a must-attend event for every tourism destination striving for success as it provides for a serious business platform for exchanges with top decision-makers, experts, buyers and young professionals in the tourism business.
