Prospective Lithium Zimbabwe- a Chinese Mining Local firm is setting the tone in bringing light to the Goromonzi Community through a number of multi- million dollar initiatives aimed at ploughing back to the community through corporate social responsibility.
Apart from employing the local people at the Mining firm, PLZ will be remembered for many decades for it’s unwavering support in the major pillars of Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) in the areas of Poverty Reduction through unemployment, improved road infrastructure, building of schools, Health infrastructure and access to clean water.
During the month of November, this news crew spend a day in Goromonzi navigating on some of the sterling projects being championed by PLZ for the betterment of the community.
At least six schools in Goromonzi received donations in the form of furniture, desks and books. The firm constructed modern classroom blocks and semi-detached teachers houses at Vhuta Primary School and Belmond School.


PLZ is also paying school fees for at least 72 learners from 10 schools.
More importantly, all schools now have proper lavatory infrastructure with access to safe water from solar powered boreholes.
This publication witnessed an equipped science laboratory at Mwanza Secondary School where learners set for their examinations in the just ended national examinations.


“Most parents in this community are farm workers and their earnings does not allow them to help in the development of our school. But we would like to thank Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe for all the good works they doing to us. We did not have teachers houses and our kids were walking more than 15 Kilometres to the nearest school. We happy our children are now safe,” Chokufa Chitengwa Chairperson of School Development Committee Belmont Primary School.

Goromonzi District Development Coordinator(DDC) Prisca Dube commented PLZ for the installation of solar powered street lights at Majuru Shopping Centre and the dualization of a major bridge in the area.


“We are witnessing much impact from the developments done by Prospective Lithium Zimbabwe. They are constructing a wider bridge and they have also installed street lights at Majuru Shopping Centre. We have seen the construction of schools.”
According PLZ Spokesperson Rugare Dhobhi, the firm is committed to advance sustainable development bringing long lasting solutions in socio economic transformation.

PLZ is a corporate firm under Huayou Cobalt of China which invested over USD700 million in Lithium mining and processing in Zimbabwe.The project is a model in line with the 2035 Vision of China Africa Cooperation.
