Harare, Zimbabwe – The Joint Portfolio Committee on Youth Empowerment, Development & Vocational Training and the Thematic Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will conduct a series of fact-finding visits to drug and substance abuse rehabilitation centers across the country.
The visits, scheduled from June 24 to July 1, aim to assess the state of rehabilitation services, identify challenges, and explore ways to improve support for individuals struggling with addiction.
The committees will visit Ngomahuru Hospital, Engutsheni Psychiatric Hospital, Lobengula Clinic, Gwanda TB Clinic, St Luke’s, Gweru Provincial Hospital, and Chipadze Detoxification and Rehabilitation Centre.
These fact-finding missions demonstrate the Parliament of Zimbabwe’s commitment to addressing the growing concern of drug and substance abuse, particularly among youth. By engaging with healthcare professionals, patients, and stakeholders, the committees seek to inform evidence-based policy decisions and enhance support services for those affected.
The visits will take place from 11:00hrs to 13:00hrs, with additional sessions scheduled at some facilities from 14:00hrs to 16:00hrs.
This initiative reflects the Parliament’s dedication to promoting the well-being of Zimbabweans and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
