The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) organized a trip over the weekend to Kuimbashiri , a bird sanctuary at Lake Chivero, for the media personnels and the Lady Chevrons to have an appreciation of local tourism.
The purpose of the trip was to promote sports tourism and support the girl child.
The Lady Chevrons, a women’s cricket team, participated in the event, which was aimed at showcasing the potential of sports tourism in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Public Relations Personnel, Hezel Zisanhi said sports tourism remains one of the top priority in embracing domestic tourism.
“As the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) we continue to urge our locals to embrace the potential of our Local Tourism.”
“Coming with the Lady Chevrons at Kuimbashiri shows our great commitment in promoting Sports Tourism and the girl child.”
Chiedza Dhururu, a Wicket Keeper with the Lady Chevrons expressed her excitement after spending a day at Kuimbashiri.
” It was an excellent experience!! I have never been to such a beautiful place filled with birds!! “
Mr ,Gary Stafford Kuimbashiri Bird Sanctuary Founder, expressed his desire to see locals coming to witness amazing species at Lake Chivero.
” I love to share the natural resources we have in Zimbabwe for free. We want people to learn a little bit of what we have. People picks injured birds and brings them in here.”
Kuimba Shiri is situated at the shores of Lake Chivero, in a Recreational Park boasting over 400 species of wild birds.
