Kuera Apostolic Church that ha more than 18 branches across Southern Africa has unleashed a number of developmental programmes aimed at bringing the goal of empowerment and sustainability for the members.
This comes at a time when issues of sustainable development, youth empowerment and gender inclusion are gathering momentum at global level.
The apostolic church has more than ten branches locally and was among the few organizations to launch developmental programmes to empower members at the back of COVID-19 Lockdown situation.
The church through the sound leadership and visionary Bishop Earnest Mupepe launched economic initiatives that include farming, fishing, goat keeping, poultry and gardening among other.
Speaking to Spotlight Online News, said the empowerment drive was a stepping stone for the church in rescuing lives during COVID -19 lockdown situations. The programme which is in line with Government Policies of Devolution and National Development Strategy(NDS 1) mainly prioritized the women and young people.
“We are happy as a church. On behalf of all women in our church I am glad to say we have managed to achieve gender inclusion and youth as well. Through our the sound leadership by our Visionary Bishop Mupepe, women and young people from various parts of the provinces were empowered. Today we are happy that most people are now self employed doing great wonders in various parts of the country.”
Bishop Mupepe, the man behind the economic initiatives has a sound academic background of education and is a holder of Masters degree in Business Management He told this publication that he is a man of God who leads with a different touch.
“I always tell people from our church that we are supposed to strike a balance in terms of economic activities and Christian life. We want to debunk the old apostolic practices that impede women from participating in economic affairs and church activities.”
Apart from this, the church has promoted women to higher positions of leadership such as evangelism, pastoring and among other influential areas.
The church shines of having Mai Sandra Chinsala as a Social Worker and Gender Champion who frequently work with developmental organizations such as UNFPA in fighting child marriages and harmful practices in Epworth. The church has Pastor Tracy Muzire among top Pastors another influential position in the Apostolic Sect. Female Evangelists include Chiedza Simukai and Mai Zvarehwa.
