Zimbabwe’s own music artist, Chief Shumba popularly known as “Hwenjetirimusango” in the music circles has dropped a single track titled “Vana Amai”.
The track shuns all forms of violence against women as they play an important role in the society.
Most music fans are used to Hwenje’s chimurenga music genre composed of revolutionary tracks underpinned with patriotic elements.
However, this time around the artiste decided to send a surprising shocker for the track comes in a different format.
The track becomes the first sungura track to be released by the Dhakota hit maker where he also raises awareness to the whole world about bad sides of gender based violence.
Hwenje becomes one of the few local artistes to intrinsically call for the end gender based violence.
Speaking to Spotlight Global News Hwenje said his track is a reflection of how issues of GBV are affecting the society in general.
“Violence is not good at all. The track teaches and informs the society about the dangers of violence. Men should learn to respect their women. Violence bad and it does not solve anything. People should leave in harmony and peace.”
The release of “VanaAmai” single track coincides with the women’s month which observed in May every year.
