Zimbabwe Tourism Satellite Account, a key instrument to improve the measurement of the performance in the Zimbabwe’s tourism sector was launched in the capital on Thursday 31 March 2022.
The Satellite Account is an internationally recognized tool which enhances the ability to measure performances in the tourism sector
Speaking during the launch, Deputy Minister of Tourism Barbra Rwodzi elaborated on the relevance of the newest tool.
“This milestone development of the Zimbabwe Tourism Satellite Account, is a key instrument meant to improve the measurement of the performance of the Tourism sector.”
“The Tourism Satellite Account is an internationally recognised tool which is able to holistically account for the performance of the tourism sector in a given economy.”
The tool has been launched at a time the tourism ministry is moving towards the enhancement of the anchor projects outlined in the national development polices such as the NDS1 ahead of Vision 2030.
“It is one of the anchor projects outlined in the National Development Strategy (NDS1), which the Ministry has to deliver on, as part of our results chain framework. I am therefore delighted on behalf of the Ministry to witness this great achievement.”
The development of the a milestone tourism tool comes at the back of strategic efforts by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the World Bank Group through the International Finance Corporation and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
