Gracia Bvute is this year’s winner of the Harare Province Tourism Innovation Challenge as she walks away with US $1000. 00 dollars.
The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry announced winners of the Harare Province Tourism Innovation at an event held on Tuesday in Harare.
The 26 year old Gracia Bvute will now join other contestants from all the 10 provinces for the grant finals to be held on a later date.
Her project titled “Putting Zimbabwean Cuisine Under the Map” become prominent through a video that garnered more than 2.5 million views on YouTube.
Bvute expressed her excitement in scooping the US $ 1000.00 dollars and she is now determined to expand her business initiatives in the tourism.
“I didn’t have the money required for us to process tenders but with this money we are now able to process our tender papers. I employ fellow youths in our Tourism Organization because I believe in youth empowerment,” she said.
Tinotenda Munhuuripo emerged second runner with US 300.00 for the best project in Green Tourism while Tinotenda Ngwenya walked away with USD $ 500.00 dollars as the first runner. Ngwenya’s project focused on environment through litter management system.
Government officials who graced the occasion include the Minister for Devolution for Harare Province Cde Tawengwa and Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Tongai Munangagwa.
