Last week Tuesday, Police arrested Roy Nyabvure a key witness in a case where controversial businessman Ken Sharpe is facing perjury and malicious damage to property.

Nyabvure who is Harare City Council’s regional building instructor, was arrested at the Harare magistrates’ court.

The arrest was issued despite Prosecutor Zivanai Macharaga warned that the act was a mere violation of the law.

The scene took place before Harare Magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka. The interference by the police almost disrupted the court proceedings.

Amid all this, Nyabvure told Chakanyuka that he was being threatened by the police.

“I have a problem of being misdirected (and) of being interfered with by the police,” he said. “I am being threatened and undermined.”

As the court adjourned, two police officers that had been waiting outside pounced on Nyabvure.

Prior to this Nyabvure’s legal counsel went at loggerheads with the law enforcement with regards to their actions towards a state witness.
