Today, Zimbabwe joined the rest of the world, as it celebrated the World Tourism Day at Tugwi Mukosi Dam in Masvingo.

The World Tourism day is observed every year to celebrate tourism’s growth and achievements in recent times. This year, the agenda – surrounding the international celebration – is centered around the theme ‘Rethink Tourism.’

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Barbara Rwodzi, explained on how the tourism sector experienced a rebound following the negative effects brought about by COVID-19 Pandemic.

“You are aware of how our Tourism Sector has been affected by the era of COVID-19 pandemic and we are now experiencing a come back. In  line with this year’s theme; ‘Rethink Tourism’ we thought of holding this year’s celebrations in here in Tokwe Mukosi following it’s completion five years ago.”

Minister of Pronvincial Affairs and Devolution Hon Andrew Chadzamira was represented by Permanent Secretary at tge celebrations. Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry PS Raphael Faranisi, ZTA Chairman Ray Mawerera, TBCZ President Wengai Nhau and the CEO Paul Matamisa also attended.
