The Education Coalition of Zimbabwe(ECOZI) is engaging the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education Innovation Science and Technology Development in overlooking various challenges affecting learners in the education sector.
Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights(SRHR), Comprehensive Sexuality Education(CSE), study on education finance and regulation are some of the issues discussed by stakeholders during the last engagement.
The engagement provided a platform for students to air out thier views, identifying ways of strengthening financing of higher and tertiary sector through a sustainable financing framework.
Apart from this stakeholders also discussed ways of strengthening implementation of Health and Life Skills within higher and tertiary education sector.
In a presentation, ECOZI Project Officer, Clifton Dawanyi said the efforts made will point towards an inclusive education policy for Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education Innovation Science and Technology Development(MoHTEISTD) emanating from a series of engagements to be made.
“The way forward will see the development of a Policy Brief, with recommendations to be shared with stakeholders. Research reports that will be shared across tertiary institutions, strategic partners and members. There will be also a round table meetings with stakeholders working in the Higher and Tertiary Education sector so as to find ways of collaborating in trying to address recommendations from the research.”
The engagement had two major presentations on researches that have been conducted up to date.
Dr. Eng Mudondo made a presentation titled: Translating Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights(SRHR) and Comprehensive Sexuality Education(CSE) into behaviour change among students in Zimbabwe’s Tertiary Colleges.
The Second presentation was on Desk study to asses the state of financing Zimbabwe’s higher and tertiary education sector vis-a-vis college fees regulation.
