Winnie Muchanyuka has been announced as the substantive Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority(ZTA). Her appointment comes with joy across the tourism fraternity.
The announcement took place today 8th of June 2022 at the ZTA Board Room. This happened in the presence of Honourable of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Mr N Ndlhovu and his Deputy Honourable Babra Rwodzi. Media players and the players in the Tourism Sector were in attendance.
Winnie Muchanyuka takes over from Dr Karikoga Kaseke who retired on condition of both age and ill health condition. Mr Givemore Chidzidzi has been leading the Tourism ship on caretaker’s basis.
Speaking during the annunciation, Honourable of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Mr N Ndhovu said the Muchanyuka’s appointment is expected to take Zimbabwe’s Tourism Sector to greater heights.
“She is not new to the Tourism Industry and this is what the Tourism sector has been awaiting. This will surely lead to the growth of tourism industry in Zimbabwe. We don’t talk of maintaining the trajectory but to continue increasing the performances. We want to see the growth of the industry from time to time.”
Muchanyuka expressed excitement to lead the Tourism ship saying he is ready to work with the Tourism sector which he labelled a dynamic team.
” I am really excited to be joining the dynamic team. I am promising the best. In my other life I had the opportunity to work with the Tourism team and it is good that we are to continue on the same trajectory. I would like also to praise the work that have been done by Mr Chidzidzi and ZTA team.”
Muchanyuka has held different portfolios in the tourism sector. Recently he was part of a team that championed the international tourism expo held in Dubai. Among other positions she was also the President of Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe.
